Congrats to a great article, Paul! Quite an insightful read and really reflecting the thoughts I’ve been building for myself recently!

I’m not sure every product designer has to actively code, however feel that they should have learned it at some point and know how to. This really teaches the crucial skills for systematic problem solving: not just jumping to the finish line, but thinking about the process.

Coincidentally, just before reading your post I sent out a tweet around a similar idea. If you don’t focus on a problem, you can go crazy on a solution. However, “complicated” is where real impact can happen.
